MEXICO, 1977

The photorealistic poetic of Abraham Jiménez is focused around the human figure. The process of his painting is very slow. Sometimes he changes the subject and after years he returns to a previous one. It evokes Johannes Ver Ing Meer who painted 34 works. Jiménez establishes a dialogue with different pictorial techniques to catch light, colour and drama and to bring them into his paintings.

He works in thematic series as The sheep, The hero, The ape, etc.
He combines techniques of classical painting and his own visual vocabulary to generate scenes derived from a character, in which humour and absurdity manifest themselves in a world of reality and fiction.
