Alessandra Maio lives and works in Bologna. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2005. In 2008, she received the Master’s Degree in History of Contemporary Art.
The focus of her paintings is language: a sentence (which usually also gives the title to the work) is written many times, obsessively, to form a background that blends and merges with the watercolour. In her installations, words often take courage: they are shown and more readable on folded or crumpled notebook sheets, or on whitewashed objects.
