PORTUGAL, 1979

Carlos Alexandre Rodrigues essentially works in an artistic practice in which different operating methodologies work on different types of media, such as painting, drawing, photography and three-dimensional objects – converging on different themes and disciplinary fields, such as geography, architecture, urbanism, archaeology, anthropology or sociology, not with the intention of treating them as such subjects, but calling their subjects to their visual arts project.
It focuses on images and objects found, in a process of artistic appropriation of inventory and cataloguing techniques, in a gesture that is both archival and aesthetic. These images serve as a catalyst or matrix for creating new images or objects.
