PORTUGAL, 1983

João Dias is an artist focusing on the development of visual languages in border areas. The artist employs strategies of thinking based in traditional mediums like painting and drawing to explore contemporary, industrial mediums and materials. Besides his relations with sculpture, architecture and archaeology practices, the artist reflects on the limits of traditions. With his artworks, he tries to create elements that, in a certain way, represent the time consumed to be produced. These artworks become potential artefacto (products or sub products) of his own age, without any time identification.
He has been represented in these art collections: the PLMJ Foundation, Lisbon; the Edge Arts y Multiples Carpe Diem Collection, Lisbon. He is represented by Das Salgadeiras Gallery, Lisbon.
