Lisa Zaldívar is a Mexican-American visual artist and creative director living in Mexico City. Born in Houston, Texas, to Mexican immigrant parents, in 2017, Lisa moved to her parents’ country to further her understanding of identity. Lisa followed her grandmother’s migrant path to the U.S. border, painting commemorative murals for those that had passed in crossing. Lisa’s work is a result of introspection and encouragement to locate herself as a Chicana on the assimilation spectrum and actively shed the Anglo veil. The artist explores curandurismo and the knowledge of ancestors to decolonize the healing way from generational trauma, racism and colorism.
