Mimi Tavares’s work reflects a constant exploration of intimate spaces, everyday objects, inhabited houses whose inhabitants have gradually disappeared from her paintings. They leave, however, the marks of an absence that fills the entire space, capturing that moment of abandonment and surprising us with the permanence of memories, inherited furniture and the order-disorder so unequivocally human they capture.
