SPAIN, 1968

Suso Basterrechea’s drawing is direct, without any concessions to rhetoric or preciousness. The incorporation of text gives it the energy of pamphlets, of posters, which issue their proclamation from a forceful austerity, forming a complex discourse, sometimes subtly sarcastic, other times deliberately poetic, which incites us to reflect on the everyday, on society, politics or art. Trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville, his work is exhibited in renowned institutions such as the Unión Fenosa MACUF Collection, the Josep Mª Civit Collection, the Caja Madrid Collection and the National Museum of Tunisia.
